Pole BendingA speed event demanding much of horseflesh and horsemanship. A horse that cannot change his lead smoothly will not win even if he runs like a deer. The Pole Bending pattern is to be run around six poles 21 feet from the starting line. Poles will be set on top of the ground at a height of 6 feet and a maximum base of 14 inches. A horse may start to the right or left and must run the remaining pattern accordingly. A 5 second penalty is assessed for each pole knocked over, and failure to follow the course causes disqualification.
