Bull RidingJust stay on 8 seconds for Seniors (6 seconds Juniors and Pee Wee) and you've got it made... sounds easy... but not when the bull may weigh up to a ton and may hook you , flip you, and mash you into the fence and then come back and step on you once you're on the ground. The only help the bull riders get in the arena are his athletic skills, timing and the indispensable aid of the rodeo clown. This ride is to be done with one hand and a loose rope, with or without a handhold. No knots or hitches are to be used to prevent them from falling off after the ride. The rope must have a bell. The bull must be ridden for 8 seconds for Seniors (6 seconds Juniors and Pee Wee) after leaving the chute. The rider is not to use sharp spurs and is entitled to a re-ride, at the discretion of the judges if he is fouled off at the chute or if the bull falls. If a flank comes off, the rider is awarded a re-ride on the same bull provided he has qualified up to that point. Two judges each mark the rider and the bull from 0 to 25 points, and the rider is not required to spur but may add points for doing so. Contestant will be disqualified for any of the following offenses: being bucked off, touching the animal with the free hand, using sharp spurs or placing spurs or chaps under the rope when the rope is being tightened.
