Bareback Bronc Riding

Bareback  bronc riding is one of the standard rodeo events that was "invented" for the spectator appeal as well as a test of skill. The bronc must be ridden for 8 seconds for Seniors (6 seconds Juniors and Pee Wee), and the rider is disqualified for failing to last the  8 seconds for Seniors (6 seconds Juniors and Pee Wee) or touching himself or the horse with his free hand. Two judges each score the horse and the rider from 0 to 25 points.

As a bronc leaps from the chute, the rider must be touching his spurs on the points of the shoulders when the horse's front feet hit the ground. Contestants spur from the shoulder to the rigging (the equipment used by the rider to hang on to) and then return to the shoulders, this completes the spurring action.
